Puebla is a city in central Mexico. I first traveled there with my father in the fall of 2018. It was supposed to be a short trip, but after our two days, I knew that it hadn’t been enough time. I originally wanted to visit Puebla to understand and know the town that fought and won the battle against the French on Cinco de Mayo. What I found was a visually stunning city, filled with rich history that helped us understand just a little bit more about our Aztec roots.
Puebla is a culinary dream with many special dishes native to this city, including its famous mole, tacos arabe, and cemitas. I learned so much from culinary expert Rocio Carvajal, who took me on a history and food tour when I first visited. This city has a lot of history that makes me so proud, which is why I want to share it with you.

It’s so important for the next generation to be led by an example of openness and curiosity for their own culture as well as other cultures. And it starts with us.
We’re going to be spending time in Puebla City, Mexico and the surrounding towns. While I’ve designed a trip to be full of adventure, walking, eating, and exploring, each day might change based on the groups preferences. Workshops will be voted on by the attendees so that everyone has a chance to learn the things they desire. This will make each trip a unique experience.
Below is a sample itinerary. You’ll receive a more tailored itinerary with finalized workshops closer to the trip date.
Travel Day! This is the day when you’ll arrive! As you arrive, I’ll help get you checked in and settled. We will enjoy the evening walking around El Centro so you can get acquainted with the city and know how to get back to the hotel if venture out by yourself. We will meet as a group for a delicious authentic dinner, talk about the trip details, get to know each other, and cheers our time together.
We’re starting the day with a light breakfast of pastries and coffee before a full day of walking. I’ll start you off with a mini photography workshop so you can capture your experience with great pictures. Mid-morning, be ready with your walking shoes for a food tour of Puebla City. We will stroll throughout the whole city, learning about its history, colonial architecture, and eating along the way. I promise you, your stomachs will be so happy. After the tour, you’ll have a chance to rest a little at the hotel before heading out for a light dinner and a night walk before enjoying a ride on Puebla’s giant ferris wheel called “Estrella de Puebla” where you can see the whole city.
Buenos dias! We’ll meet together again for breakfast before we get some learning in. Based on attendees choices, we will be offering a workshop where you’ll learn how to make a mexican dish. (Pan mexicano, salsas, chile poblano, or mole).
After our workshop, we’ll have a chance to rest and explore Puebla City a little slower. We can enjoy the mercados and street food before having dinner together.
Domingo! Breakfast before we go out to Cholula, a nearby town in the state of Puebla. It’s a must-visit, especially on a Sunday. There is a very famous church on the top of a pyramid that we’ll walk up to. Once there, you have a view of some volcanos and most of Puebla. We’ll go inside the pyramid which is pretty cool if you’ve never been inside one. Outside the pyramid, you can look at the excavation process.
There’s also a little mercado with vendors selling souvenirs, food, and drinks. There’s usually entertainment going on too. We’ll enjoy dinner at a nice restaurant before going back to the city.
After breakfast together, we have an off-site adventure to tour Mexico City to explore more food techniques as we get experience in the field and prepare a meal.
Adios! This will be your travel day back home. We enjoy one last breakfast together, before checking out. We’ll stay with you until you depart and help you with your last minute travel details to make sure you’re en route back on time. If you plan to stay longer,or travel somewhere else in Mexico, we will help you plan the remainder of your trip and make sure you’re headed to your next destination on time.
The best airport to fly into is Mexico City International Airport. Once you arrive, you’ll take a luxury bus to Puebla City. It’s about a 2-3 hour drive, so you’ll be able to take a nap or enjoy some window watching. I will meet you at the bus terminal and we will take a taxi together to the hotel.
