Oaxaca is known for its textiles, especially embroidery and weaving. Cotton is hand spun, dyed, then loomed into beautiful designs. Oaxaca has many groups of indigenous people, many of whom still speak native languages other than Spanish. Each group has their own distinct designs. Textiles can tell a lot about where in Mexico it was made depending on the design and how it was made.
