About the artist
I'm Karina. I'm passionate about educating others about Mexico through art. Mexican culture is more than just Cinco de Mayo celebrations, margaritas, and piñatas. While we all love a good margarita, I want to share the beauty, vibrancy, and humanity that is Mexico.
While I was born in Chicago (yes, I still get asked “so where are you really from”), my parents made it a priority to visit our family in Mexico often. Making yearly trips is a tradition I still have today with my own kids.
I've always been quiet and understanding of the many stereotypes and unintentional racism I've encountered. I've usually ignored it, but now I feel like it's time to truly invest in helping people see beyond the stereotypes and into the heart of who Mexicans are; one piece of art at a time.
