When groups work with me, participants will identify that they are not alone in their previous decision to assimilate. They will be empowered to give themselves grace and to start the journey of realization that led them to losing themselves. The path of assimilation can be redirected to the path of self-discovery, honor, and alignment.

After experiencing my culture being mocked and appropriated while I was working in 2016, I decided I had had enough. It was then that I realized I had come to have a dual identity in who I presented myself in certain spaces. I decided to reclaim my culture, share about the beauty of my Mexican heritage, and take people along the journey with me.

Assimilation may bring more opportunity but it never leads to a person reaching their greatest potential. Assimilation denies one’s culture and eventually leads to dishonoring one’s self at the expense of the comfort of others.

That’s why I created a keynote & workshop series that brings all of these topics to light in a safe space for other BIPOC employees. I also work with groups to understand the difference between appropriation, and honoring a culture. And I do this all to create a better foundation for the next generation.

As a Latina entrepreneur, I believe in being compensated fairly and equitably, which is why our form is very direct in regards to asking what your budget is. Let’s work together to provide equitable opportunities for WOC (women of color) to thrive in the speaker community by being committed to pay transparency.

Thank you! Karina
